Senior Community Service Employment Program
At Senior Community Service Employment Program, our goal is to help low-income individuals who are age 55 and older with their search for employment. Eligible candidates receive job training, new skills, self confidence and support to find full-time employment. This program is the quintessential “win-win.” The senior receives 19 hours per week of paid training with a non-profit organization as well as the opportunity to find permanent unsubsidized employment. The employer, a non-profit organization, receives an individual well-trained and eager to work who can help them with their employment needs, either on a short-term basis or as a permanent hire. “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to shine in experience, knowledge, communication, initiative, collaboration, and self worth. The Maryland Department of Aging embraced me as a staff member when I first began training with them. I proved to be an asset and became a full-time employee because of it. This kind of activity makes SCSEP shine as well because it reflects on the decision you made in choosing a qualified individual to enroll in your senior employment program.” - Geraldine F. Parker, Former Participant |
